Take a lesson from Tiger...

Now it's hard to equate the star status of Eldrick Woods and that of Patrick Kane, Greg Oden, Chris Cooley, Grady Sizemore and others but these young, up and coming athletic stars should take a step back and realize that there's no good reason to be snapping nude photos of yourself for anyone. To think that it's just going to one person and that's it is foolish, take it from Tiger.

Further, to re-emphasize J-Mau's point, what's the deal w/these cats getting busted w/some busted chicks? P-Kane, you've had your share of trouble over the past handful of months, jumping into this spotlight pales in comparison. I guess his definition of growing up is sticking with the girl in plaid and leaving the others in his wake.

Back to Mr. Woods. Really Tiger? You had certified angus at home and you went for Wendy's...speaking of Wendys, Wendy Williams would have been at least a rung or two up the shim ladder compared to some of the beasts el Tigre slayed.

Blackhawk Down...

Partaaaaaaaaaay in the Windy City! Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane apologized for the shirtless photos that surfaced this week that showed he and his teammates partying in a limo with a small group of fully-clothed women. He took his apology a bit further telling reporters, “it's time for me to grow up.”

Photos of Kane along with teammates John Madden and Kris Versteeg popped up on the internet after a recent swing through Western Canada and all three have insisted that the matter has been handled internally and will remain an in-house issue. Now is it me, or is his apology way off? From my point of view, he should be apologizing for the quality of women he appears to be...ahem...partying with, not the actual incident. Christ, man, you’re a professional athlete. There is no excuse to be wasting time in limos with girls who look like this: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/blackhawks-red-light-district/2010/01/blackhawks-limo-pictures-prove-athletes-like-women.html

Now I’m no beauty pageant judge, but let me throw my two cents in here. In the Kane pic, he girl in the lumberjack shirt isn’t terrible, but the one on the left? Poor form, young man. You DO need to grow up. As for John Madden posing with his arm flexed, two things come to mind. Some sort of curl/pull-up combo to build some muscle as well as a much-needed tan. Good penalty killer, but quite hobbit-like. Back to the Shire, little one. Oh yeah, he's married too. Hee hee!

Lastly, why is the woman seen sitting next to Kris Versteeg (who apparently thinks he is the white Kanye West) dressed like some sort of hotel concierge?

The whole thing baffles me. We all know athletes enjoy the perks of their profession by doing unspeakable acts with women reeking of low self esteem on a regular basis. This is reality, and for all intents and purposes this is fine as long as it's legal and consensual. But why risk public outcry and a tarnished image from all the uptight stiffs out there for three 4 1/2’s that you picked up at the local Karaoke Bar?It just makes no sense.

Additionally, there’s been no comment from the Hawks regarding the rumors that the blond in the Kane pic is indeed Brian Campbell in drag.

The Road to Crawford...

I'd like to be clever and call today's signing a Winn-win for the Yankees but let's be honest it's more like a Winn-lose without the draw. For weeks, Yankees' fans have heard the top people proclaim that they have "$2 million to spend on a left fielder." Naturally there were a limited number of candidates, Winn, Rocco Baldelli, and supposedly Jermaine Dye being among them. It then became a race for the three to find Cashman's digits, call him up, and ink a deal.

Can Randy Winn contribute? Sure but not nearly as much as the re-addition of Jerry Hairston Jr. could have done. Also, will Winn's playing time cut into Brett Gardner's chance to be an everyday contributor? Hopefully not since Gardner brings speed and the ability to get on base to the bottom of a stacked Yankees' lineup.

As a side note, I was personally intrigued to see Jamie Hoffman get a shot at some playing time and this move will likely preclude him from making the team, barring any major injuries or a spring training season where Hoffman forces his way into the Yanks' plans.

Ultimately, as the title suggests, this is a clear line for the Yankees to move on Carl Crawford during the off-season between 2010 and 2011, a move that will give the Yankees speed at the top of the lineup, pop from the 2 hole, and the youth that Damon nor Winn possess.
